Are your TIRED EYES aging you?

Are your “tired eyes” making you look older than you really are? Did you know that puffiness and dark circles can add years to your face even if you are getting plenty of sleep? As you get older, the delicate skin around your eyes begins to lose it elasticity and the collagen fibers began to break down resulting in sagging skin.  When the skin starts to sag, the tiny capillaries under the eyes start to become more visible and the fluids under the eyes can also become more noticeable.  So now you’re asking yourself, is there anything that can be done?

Let’s look at ways to effectively reduce fine lines, puffiness and dark circles so you can keep your eyes looking young and beautiful.

PROTECT YOUR SKIN-Environmental factors such as sunlight and cigarette smoke can cause you to squint which can lead to fine lines and wrinkles. Sun damage and cigarette smoke can also damage the skin and collagen fibers surrounding the eye area. Wearing sunglasses, sunscreen and topical antioxidants such as astaxanthin and green tea can help protect he skin from further damage.

We have found ABI’s Sensible Sunscreen, Intense Antioxidant and Hydrating Recovery Gel to be very effective at protecting the skin.

DON’T RUB OR TUG-The skin surrounding your eyes is extremely thin and delicate. The more you pull, tug and rub this thin skin, the faster you will start to notice signs of aging. If you wear make-up, it is important to refrain from pulling on the skin around your eyes when applying and removing eye liner and mascara. In addition, if you suffer from allergies, it is important to take an antihistamine so you don’t end up rubbing your eyes when they become itchy. Allergies can also lead to an increase in fluids accumulating in the eye area and make then even more puffy than usual.

If you find your eyes do become itchy or puffy, applying a cold compress to the area can help to constrict the blood vesicles and reduce the itching. We would suggest using the Allure Infuse Tool to immediately cool the eye area.

INCREASE HYDRATION- When the skin becomes dehydrated, it can appear thin, brittle and dull. By increasing the amount of water, you consume and keeping the skin surrounding the eyes well hydrated, you can immediately start to restore your youthful glow and plumpness.

We suggest applying ABI’s Clinical Eye Repair to help restore moisture and nutrition.

NOURISH THE SKIN-The skin we see is a direct reflection of how we treat our bodies. If you want to see beautiful skin on the outside, then it is imperative to feed and nourish your skin form the inside out. A poor diet such as one high in salt can lead to inflammation and puffiness around the eye area. Consuming a low-sodium diet rich in vitamins and high in antioxidants can help to restore natural beauty and vitality to your skin. In addition to feeding the skin from within, it is equally important that we provide topical nourishment as well.  Skin care products such as your wash and moisturizers, should contain an ample number of vitamins and antioxidants and should be free of harmful dyes, perfumes and fillers.

We suggest treating your skin to a dose of Lightwave therapy and implementing any one of ABI’s mists, moisturizers or daily antioxidants.

FACIAL MASSAGE- If you find you are prone to dark circles or puffiness, gently tapping the skin can help keep nutrients and blood flowing to your orbital eye area. We suggest using the vibration setting on the Allure Infuse Wand to help stimulate and rejuvenate the skin.

To provide additional reduction in puffiness, place the tool on the cold setting and massage in ABI’s Clinical Eye Repair.

Learning how to care for the delicate skin around your eyes will help you to look younger much longer. Remember that the eyes are the window to our soul so shouldn’t yours be as young-looking as possible?

Get the Skinny on How Pumpkin can Help Increase LIGHTWAVE LED Results

Using the Power of Pumpkin to Increase Results from Lightwave LED Therapy

Did you know that pumpkin is loaded with over 100 different beneficial ingredients and has been deemed one of the top super fruitselitearmpanel of all time? With all the unbelievable benefits pumpkin has to offer, it’s no wonder pumpkin is the perfect ingredient to use prior to undergoing lightwave LED therapy.

The power of pumpkin can completely transform the skin in just a single session. It has the unique ability to both exfoliate and moisturize the skin at the same time. Its natural enzymes dissolve and digest dead skin cells to promote the production of healthy new tissue, while fatty acids help maintain the skin’s lipid balance and lock in moisture.

The beneficial combination of both exfoliation and hydration makes pumpkin ideal for preparing the skin for lightwave LED therapy.

As you know, Lightwave LED therapy is the process of delivering energized light particles or photons to the cells within the skin. These power packed photons then stimulate the cells to produce over 24 different positive changes. This includes the production of collagen and elastin. Now just imagine if you could make it easier for these energy packed photons to enter the body. This could then equate to more cells making more collagen and elastin and ultimately much healthier skin for your clients.

So how does ABI’s Pumpkin Micro-Peel help increase Lightwave therapy results? Let’s take a closer look at ways the two treatments complement each other:

Light needs to enter the skin in order for it to be effective. Pumpkin enzymes can dramatically aid in the removal of dead skin cells that can get in the way. This means ABI’s Pumpkin Micro-Peel allows more light to enter. When skin is clean, thoroughly exfoliated and well hydrated, energy packed light particles penetrate the skin easier and at a higher rate. In addition, the gentle enzymatic activity from pumpkin is excellent for all skin types including acneic, sensitive and mature.

Powerful pumpkin enzymes evenly digest or break down the keratinized protein that forms a hard coating on an aged cell. This hard layer can cause mature skin to become dry, rough and dull. By increasing vasodilation and speeding up this cell turn-over rate, new skin cells will surface much quicker than normal and LED results will become visible, faster.

ABPumpkin peelI’s Pumpkin Micro Peel does more than just clear a path for Lightwave particles.

It is also chalked full of power pack ingredients that are low in molecular weight. This means it can easily be absorbed into the skin. Loaded with over 100 different powerful ingredients, this ultimate fruit has shown time and time again to be extremely nutritional and beneficial to the skin.

* Softens, hydrates and sooths: The beneficial nutrients in pumpkin such as fatty acids and vitamins A and C help to maintain the skin’s lipid balance to protect against trans epidermal water loss.

* Brightens and exfoliates: Pumpkin also contains natural fruit enzymes to safely and effectively dissolve proteins and digest dead skin cells found on the surface. This process increases skin renewal and improves the overall skin tone and texture.

* Improves luminosity and boosts collagen: Pumpkin is a great source of vitamin C which has been shown to keep the skin’s elastin and collagen fibers from breaking down. Vitamin C

also fights free radical formation and promotes healthy skin cell production for a beautiful, glowing complexion.

* Strengthens skin: Pumpkin is loaded with Vitamins B, K and E to support barrier function and help to maintain a strong internal structure. This helps to prevent inflammation caused by environmental factors and compromised skin.

* Protects from environmental damage: Pumpkin has shown to have some of the biggest antioxidant benefits and free radical protection of any fruit. This means that are skin cells are protected from prematurely aging and breaking down due to environmental stressors and pollutants.

* Reduces excess oil production and acne: Pumpkin is invaluable for acne sufferers. It is chock-full of zinc, vitamin E and selenium which helps clear the complexion, heal the skin and control oil production.

After seeing all the beneficial ways that pumpkin can help heal and repair the skin, it’s easy to see why more and more skin care professionals are quickly turning to pumpkin to help increase their Lightwave therapy results.

Here is our suggestion Protocol on how to incorporate ABI’s Polishing Pumpkin Micro Peel into your Lightwave LED treatment:

CLEANSE skin using ABI’s Exfoliating Enzyme wash for 1-2 minutes. Remove with sponge and warm water.

PREP skin by saturating 4 x4 gauze with ABI’s 15% Lactic skin prep solution. Pass over the face 2-3 times to degrease the skin. For those with sensitive skin, you may skip this step. For those that are looking for a deeper treatment, pass over the skin multiple times.

TREAT the skin by spreading approximately ½ a tablespoon of pumpkin cream evenly over the skin Starting at the forehead and T-zone and working your way to the chin and cheeks area. Avoid getting the pumpkin cream too close to the eye area. ABI’s Polishing Pumpkin Micro Peel should be left on the skin for approximately 5-7 minutes. Do not leave on the skin longer than 15 minutes. For a more intense treatment, steam can be applied to the skin after the 7 minutes.

REMOVE thoroughly with tepid water and facial sponge. Continue to rinse the skin until no residue is left behind and client no longer feels any activity.

LIGHTWAVE LED light therapy can now be administered. We suggest using the Lightwave Anti-Aging setting or you may also use 15 minutes or Red Light followed by 15 minutes of IR light if the skin is also having issues with pigmentation. For best results, we suggest using Lightwave’s Topical Light Infusion technology following the ABI’s Polishing Pumpkin Mico Peel. Please contact Lightwave for this alternate protocol.

APPLY ABI’s Hydrating Recovery Gel once the light therapy session is over. This can be applied as a cooling mask or in a thin layer as a gel. If it is applied as a mask, you do not need to rinse it off. Just allow the mask to fully penetrate before applying moisturizer or sunscreen. This will help to calm the skin and neutralize any free radicals that were created during the process of increasing cellular turnover.

MOISTURIZE and PROTECT with ABI’s Moisturizing Copper Peptide. Apply a small pea size amount to the treatment skin area. Follow with ABI’s Shade Sunscreen to provide instant protection.

LED Light Therapy + Green Tea = Rapid Results

LIGHTWAVE and ABI Dermaceuticals have teamed up to bring you a potent medical grade green tea hydrating gel formulated to significantly speed up the repair process achieved during LED light therapy and other light-based treatments. ABI’s Hydrating Recovery Gel with Green Tea is unsurpassed by any light based topical inGreean Tea the industry and is geared toward producing noticeable, lasting results.

Recently, scientists out of Germany, Andrei P. Sommer and Dan Zhu have documented the positive effects the topical application of green tea can have on the skin when used in conjunction with LED light therapy. In order to understand why green tea is so powerful, it is first important to understand how LED light can impact the body. Clients, who have previously been exposed to free radical damage from environmental factors prior to starting a light based treatment, can have elevated levels of reactive oxygen species
(ROS) present in the body. An excess of ROS can significantly inhibit the cellular repair process and delay rejuvenation progression. LED, IPL, laser and other light based treatments help to significantly increase cellular growth and repair aged skin. On the
other hand, as light speeds up the cellular metabolism process and cellular activity, ROS and waste are also produced as a byproduct. In many cases, during LED light therapy, the body will create powerful internal antioxidants such as superoxide dismutase (SOD)
to alleviate any excess ROS and waste. However, if the ROS levels stay elevated and the body is unable to dispose of the excess, it can substantially delay the rejuvenationprocess.

Now that we have established that excess ROS can slow down the rejuvenation process, how do we prevent this from occurring? Sommer and Zhu have found that by utilizing the powerful ROS scavenger known as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) which is extracted from green tea, we can lower the levels of ROS within the body. When EGCG is applied daily in high concentrations, this antioxidant can reduce the presence of ROS and prolong the life of the cells responsible for transporting extracelluar metabolic waste from the basal membrane to the top layer of the epidermis, resulting in accelerated
rejuvenation of the skin.1

In order to ensure the fastest and best possible results from your lightbased treatment, LIGHTWAVE and ABI have developed an aloe based gel that contains several medical grade ingredients including a high concentration of ECGC (green tea). This invaluable product will help to ensure your clients’ ROS factor remains low and your results remain high.

Anti-Aging LED Protocol:

Step 1 CLEANSER: LED Light TherapyThoroughly cleanse the face using ABI Exfoliating Enzyme Wash. We suggest completing an Allure Cleanse in circular motions over the face and neck area until make-up, oils, and daily build-up has been removed. Rinse thoroughly.

Step 2 LED RED/IR LIGHT: Expose the skin to program: Anti-aging, a 20 minute session of alternating Red and IR light.

Step 3 NUTRIENTS: Apply a dime size amount of ABI’s Hydrating Recovery Gel to stimulate the skin’s healing response, significantly increase skin hydration and to promote the skin’s natural barrier functions.

Step 4 EYE CARE: Apply a small pea size amount of Clinical Eye Repair to orbital eye area tapping the cream around the eye area starting with the outside of the brow bone and working your way around inward. Allow the cream to absorb into the skin completely before applying the sunscreen.

Step 4 SUNSCREEN: Apply an ample amount of sunscreen and allow it to absorb. Don’t massage the sunscreen into the skin. The closer the sunscreen remains to the epidermis, the more protection it will provide.

Topical Astaxanthin: Don’t be Without It!

benefits of astaxanthin
ABI Intense Antioxidant

As most people in the skincare industry already know, antioxidants play a key role in maintaining healthy skin. However, some antioxidants have proven to be much more powerful than others. So how do we decipher which antioxidants are the right choice for protecting the skin from premature aging and free radical damage?

Not all antioxidants are created equal. Scientists long ago discovered that a class of naturally occurring pigments known as caroteniods, held powerful antioxidant properties. Recently, one of the caroteniods called Astaxanthin (asta-ZAN-thin) has been deemed the “antioxidant superstar” by many peer-reviewed publications and TV syndicates. This fat-soluble caroteniod is found in many forms including microalgae, salmon, trout, shrimp and wild berries. Scientist have also been able to bioengineer synthetic Astaxanthin but this form has been shown to be significantly less effective than the natural form.

Natural Astaxanthin has an impressive array of physical and anti-aging properties that make it far superior to other well-known antioxidants. Its physical characteristics, such as its small molecular structure, allow it to easily penetrate skin tissue and be utilized by the body. Natural Astaxanthin also has amazing dual antioxidant capabilities. It sacrifices itself in order to rapidly neutralize highly toxic oxidizing agents and protect the body from dangerous free radicals including ROS (reactive oxygen species) and highly reactive forms of oxygen called singlet oxygen. Often times, other antioxidants are unable to counteract the overwhelming damage caused by these specific types of free radical formulations. Astaxanthin studies show that this powerful antioxidant can be up to 1000 times more effective than vitamin C,  500 times more effective than vitamin A and 10 times more effective than beta carotene. It can also work synergistically with antioxidant actions of vitamin C and E.

Other benefits of Astaxanthin include:

  • anti-inflammatory properties.
  • stimulation of collagen production.
  • aiding in inhibiting melanin production.
  • natural sun protection.
  • helps the skin recover quicker from sun damage

As we age, several processes within the body start to slow down, resulting in visible signs of aging. Luckily, ABI Dermaceuticals understands the undeniable importance of protecting skin cells by using natural Astaxanthin. ABI’s Intense Antioxidant has been formulated to slow down the aging process by reducing inflammation and quenching  free-radical damage.

AstaxanthinOur paraben-free and fragrance-free formula makes it an ideal choice for all skin types. Skin will feel silky and appear soft and supple. It helps normalize dry, parched skin by producing long lasting moisture in addition to have anti-keratinization and anti-wrinkle free properties.
